The
story of a hand illustrated menu by Claudine Honegger, daughter
of Françoise Bangor : After a walk through the ruins and the meal at Coutances Town Hall, at it happened was not too badly damaged. I believe it was the Mayor, at that moment Monsieur Troude, a friend of the family thought of Maman to design the menus. Teacher told me that i had to go to Granville where we had a small apartment to ask Maman if she was able to carry out the work. I can still see myself arriving at Granville and telling Maman "I have good news that will bring you fame and fortune (fame, possibly but not fortune). She drew menus which i then had to paint. I enjoyed doing this. She then decided to draw a special menu for General de Gaulle himself. General de Gaulle, who was not too free with his signature signed the menu and asked the Mayor to return it to the artist. More than a few people were rather envious and there was quite a queue of people to see the signed menu. You can imagine how proud I was at the age of fourteen !"
